Joe Rogan Interviews TOTALLY Gone Wrong

This is what happens when you clash with Joe Rogan

Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE), is known for its long, freewheeling conversations with a wide range of guests—from celebrities and scientists to political commentators and athletes. However, not every interview on his show has gone smoothly. Some have resulted in moments of tension, misunderstanding, or controversy, earning attention for all the wrong reasons. Here are a few notable instances:

1. Steven Crowder (Episode #917)

One of the more contentious interviews was with conservative commentator Steven Crowder. The tension arose when they discussed topics like gender and politics. Rogan, known for being open-minded and questioning, began pushing back against some of Crowder’s more extreme claims. The conversation became somewhat heated as Crowder seemed to feel challenged in areas where he expected agreement. While they didn’t have an all-out confrontation, the episode ended awkwardly, with clear tension in the air.

2. Jack Dorsey, Vijaya Gadde, and Tim Pool (Episode #1258)

In this infamous episode, Rogan hosted Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and the company’s legal counsel, Vijaya Gadde, alongside independent journalist Tim Pool. This conversation focused on Twitter’s handling of free speech and content moderation. Pool aggressively confronted Dorsey and Gadde on Twitter’s perceived political biases and censorship of conservative voices. Rogan tried to moderate, but the intensity of Pool’s criticisms made for an uncomfortable atmosphere, especially when Gadde and Dorsey struggled to give clear answers. The conversation showcased the challenges tech companies face when dealing with content moderation and free speech but was criticized for being unbalanced, with some accusing Pool of dominating the discussion.

3. Adam Conover (Episode #1171)

The episode with comedian and host of Adam Ruins Everything, Adam Conover, was a case where Rogan’s skepticism clashed with Conover’s more progressive views. One particularly heated moment occurred during a discussion about transgender athletes in sports. Rogan has been vocal about his concerns over biological males competing in women’s sports, whereas Conover argued from a more inclusive stance. The debate became uncomfortable as Rogan’s directness and Conover’s frustration escalated, leaving the conversation feeling more like a confrontation than a productive dialogue.

4. Bob Lazar and Jeremy Corbell (Episode #1315)

Bob Lazar, a controversial figure known for his claims of working on alien technology at Area 51, appeared on the show with filmmaker Jeremy Corbell. Throughout the interview, Lazar appeared evasive or forgetful when Rogan pressed him on details, leading to some awkward moments. Corbell often had to jump in to clarify or explain, which only added to the confusion. Many viewers felt the episode lacked the compelling evidence needed to make Lazar’s story credible, and the awkwardness in Rogan’s attempts to get clarity didn’t help.

5. Milo Yiannopoulos (Episode #702)

Milo Yiannopoulos, a far-right provocateur, appeared on JRE for an interview that quickly spiraled into chaos. Rogan’s casual style mixed with Yiannopoulos’ controversial and inflammatory statements resulted in a podcast full of tension. Rogan questioned Yiannopoulos’ more radical positions, and while there was no outright conflict, it became clear that Rogan was struggling to keep the conversation productive. This episode is frequently cited as an example of Rogan’s difficulties in managing particularly extreme guests.

6. Abby Martin (Episode #518)

Abby Martin, an independent journalist, appeared on JRE to discuss issues like media manipulation and U.S. foreign policy. The conversation got tense when Martin started challenging Rogan’s opinions on certain geopolitical topics, particularly around U.S. military interventions. Rogan, who often enjoys playing devil’s advocate, clashed with Martin on several points, leading to a conversation that felt more like a debate, with both sides struggling to see eye to eye.

Why These Moments Stand Out

These interviews stand out because they highlight Rogan’s unique position as both an entertainer and a commentator who attempts to tackle serious issues. His laid-back, open-minded approach sometimes collides with guests who have very strong, uncompromising views. While this often leads to fascinating conversations, it can also result in misunderstandings or confrontations when guests feel challenged or misinterpreted.

Rogan’s platform has grown immensely, and with that growth, the stakes of these conversations have also increased. Controversial moments are almost inevitable, but they also serve as a reminder of how difficult it is to maintain a balance between letting guests speak freely and challenging their ideas in real time.
